Phil is Startrite's Sales Director with over 30 years experience in industrial woodworking machinery. He will be on hand throughout the show to discuss the best solutions to your application requirements, how to improve productivity, how to get a quick return on investment and to explain the features and benefits of the Startrite range from the representative range we will have at the show.

All day, Dust Extraction Q&A with Craig Heffren
Often a very contentious area of the workshop, but arguably the most important, especially when you consider the harmful dust given off by many materials and the associated health risks. Throughout the show resident dust extraction expert Craig Heffren will be situated on the Record Power Stand offering expert advice. For the definitive answer on extraction this is the only place to be; system design, fitments and the extractors themselves will be all covered ensuring you get the most from your set up.

All day, Universal Q&A with Tony Rhodes
Tony has many years experience demonstrating and training users on universal machines. He will be on hand all day to discuss the benefits of universal machines and to walk through and demonstrate the range we have on show, covering all the major areas of universals, sawing, planing, thicknessing and of course spindle moulding.

All day, Paz Saws with Katie Ellis
Katie is part of the family owned business Thomas Flinn, manufactures of hand crafted saws in Sheffield for over 200 years. She will be available to discuss the process of manufacture and the benefits over many other saws. Along with the saws will be a range of high quality Sheffield manufactured cabinet scrapers.


1030 Clock10.30am, Bandsaws Buyers Guide and Masterclass with Alan Holtham
Bandsaws are exceptionally versatile machines and have small footprints for the machining capability on offer, making them a very popular choice for all levels of workshop. Alan Holtham will explain some of the benefits of bandsaw ownership and demonstrate some of their capabilities before walking through the major features of the machine and what to look out for when planning to purchase a machine. His advice is also available to take away on a free DVD. Alan will also be discussing how to get the most out of this machine, covering initial setup, fine tuning and blade choice.

1130 Clock11.30am, Spindle Turning for Beginners with Alan Holtham
Alan Holtham will demonstrate a simple spindle project in order to teach the essential skills in turning between centres. During this process he will cover basic safety on the lathe, introduce the five basic turning tools required for most spindle work and demonstrate one of the most requested techniques; long hole boring for table and standard lamps. Pen turning using timber and acrylic, also a popular demonstration, will be shown. All accessories used during this demonstration will have special pricing for the show.

1300 Clock1.15pm, Polishing with Marc Raby
Mark will be demonstrating the range of Mylands waxes and polishes for both the cabinet maker and woodturner, including a new range of spirit stains specifically designed for the woodturner with many varying colours. There will be special pricing on many packages over the period of the show. Mark will be available for demonstration and advice in Hall 2 at all other times. Mylands, like Pax hand saws, have been manufacturing in the UK for over 125 years.

1400 Clock2.00pm, Bowl Turning for Beginners with Alan Holtham
Alan Holtham will demonstrate a simple bowl project in order to teach the essential skills in turning end grain. During this process he will cover basic safety on the lathe and introduce the three basic turning tools required for most bowl work. During this demonstration Alan will be using the Nova chucking system, along with the full range of jaws and explaining when to use expanding and contracting jaws.
